P Squared Wine Bar & Bistro

P Squared Wine Bar & Bistro

March 2014

After embarking on a road trip through Michigan’s wine country, both Paul Fox and Paul Bussard returned to the Lansing-area with the desire to open Downtown Lansing’s first wine bar.  The first step in making their dream a reality?  Connecting with the Capital Region Small Business Development Center.  Consultant Laurie Lonsdorf met with Fox and Bussard to review their business plan, develop cash flow projections, and connect them with a lender to help finance their business.

Owners, Paul Fox and Paul Bussard

Just over a year after that fateful trip to wine country, Paul Fox and Paul Bussard were able to open P Squared Wine Bar & Bistro.  P Squared is located in Downtown Lansing’s popular Washington Square, and offers locals a comfortable but sophisticated place to go to enjoy a glass of wine.  P Squared also offers a full menu and is a popular destination for people to gather before beginning a night out downtown.

P Squared operates on the core belief that wine should be enjoyed and that nobody should feel intimidated.

“We want P Squared to be like an extension of our living room,” says Bussard, “a place with great wine that is cozy and unpretentious.”  With wines for every budget and taste, P Squared’s friendly staff strives to help people find a wine they truly enjoy.

So far P Squared has created over 15 jobs and is incredibly involved in the Downtown Lansing community.  In July of 2013 P Squared participated in Lansing’s first restaurant week, and Fox and Bussard were also selected as sommeliers for the popular Taste of Downtown event.

Due to their growth and contribution to the Lansing-area economy, P Squared Wine Bar & Bistro has been selected as the Capital Region SBDC’s Best Small Business.  They will be recognized for this honor at the Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards dinner in May of 2014.
